CHALLENGER BANK PEAK - UI
The brief was to create the UI of a challenger banking app, along the lines of Monzo or Revolut.
The brief stated it must be 'Playful, Clear and Trustworthy' in style and design. I was supplied with some initial data for the screens. The UI had to be responsive - mobile, tablet and desktop.
The FIGMA design file includes a moodboard development page and the final designs page.
This UI Design project covered -
• Responsive Design: Understanding the importance of designing for various devices. Implementing responsive design ensures that the UI adapts seamlessly to different screen sizes and orientations, providing a consistent and user-friendly experience across devices.
• Accessibility: Recognising the importance of making the UI accessible to all users, including those with disabilities, has been an essential aspect of my learning. Considering accessibility features and colour contrast not only enhances inclusivity but also improves the overall usability for all users.
• Visual Hierarchy and Information Architecture: I've learned that establishing a clear visual hierarchy is crucial in guiding users' attention and decision-making. Creating a well-structured information architecture and providing intuitive navigation paths contribute to a seamless user experience, making it easier for users to find what they need.
• Consistency and Branding: I understand the significance of maintaining consistency in UI elements and design language. A cohesive and well-branded UI reinforces trust, enhances user recognition, and creates a seamless transition across different screens and interactions.
• Design Systems: Exploring the benefits of using design systems to create a consistent and scalable UI. Design systems streamline the design process, promote collaboration among teams, and maintain a cohesive visual identity across products and platforms.
This project has been part of my UI Professional Certification with the UX Design Institute. I go forward with the knowledge that any design I create will prioritise the user and their interaction with the design. I've learned that a successful design is one that makes the user's experience easy, simple, and efficient, with minimal confusion and cognitive load. I've let go of complicated ideas and embraced simplicity, recognising that less is often more. I can ensure that ease of use takes precedence over excessive branding. Let the UX deliver the brand identity too, it equals the image with importance. UI design is all about the details and every pixel counts.
